ABOUT HENCHU
About us
Named after the Kannada word for traditional cooking surfaces, Henchu brings mothers' cherished recipes to life with love, memory, and care.
Our story
Henchu began with a simple idea: some of the best food in the world comes from home kitchens, from recipes carried in memory, not written in manuals. We wanted to bring that warmth to more people, while creating meaningful opportunities for women whose culinary skills deserve a wider table.
What started in one kitchen has grown into a unique culinary experience at GM Rejoyz, Malleswaram, where Henchu operates alongside four banquet halls and an auditorium. The result is a space where home-style cooking, hospitality, and community come together naturally.
What makes Henchu special
Henchu is built as a collaborative food platform led by different mums, each bringing her own signature dishes, style, and story to the table. Because of that, the menu changes daily, offering fresh, authentic homestyle food that honours tradition while still feeling alive and personal.
Every dish carries a legacy of care and ingenuity. We are not trying to make food feel industrial, standardised, or distant. We want it to taste like it came from a kitchen you trust.
What we offer
- Daily rotating menus cooked by different mums
- Thoughtfully curated catering for events, with menus tailored to your guests and occasion
- Artisanal food products
- A platform for talented homemakers to showcase their culinary skills and share their family recipes
Whether you are ordering a meal, planning an event, or exploring pantry products, the heart of Henchu stays the same: authentic food made with honesty and affection.
Rooted in hospitality
Henchu is supported by a family-run hospitality business with banquet halls, an auditorium, and catering services built over more than 25 years. Through GM Rejoyz, that larger hospitality ecosystem has catered to more than 10,000 events.
That foundation gives Henchu the ability to stay personal in its food while also being capable and dependable when it comes to larger gatherings, celebrations, and community events.
Our founders
Gayathri Mruthyunjaya
Gayathri Mruthyunjaya is the founder of Henchu. She is a homemaker and former director of an educational institution, with a BSc in Home Science and an MA in Public Administration from Venkateshwara University. After 35 years as a homemaker, and with the desire to support her family while sharing authentic Karnataka cuisine, she started Henchu to bring home-cooked food to a wider audience.
Karthik Aradhya
Karthik Aradhya is the co-founder of Henchu and a civil engineer by training. Inspired by the comfort and joy of the meals cooked by his mother, he set out to build a platform that could share that same experience with more people while collaborating with other homegrown chefs and homemakers.
What we believe
We believe food should feel human. It should carry memory, identity, and care. We believe homemakers deserve visibility and opportunity. And we believe the recipes people grow up with are worth preserving, celebrating, and sharing with the world.
Henchu exists to make that possible, one mum, one recipe, one table at a time.
