Sarjapur Road was farmland with a road through it a generation ago, and the road won. What stands there now is a string of gated communities, villa projects, school campuses and office blocks running southeast from the Wipro junction toward the ring road's reach, with the old villages still folded between the walls. The families inside the gates are from everywhere, bonded less by locality than by circumstance, and the communities run their own civic life, festival committees, sports days, cultural nights, entirely in-house. It is a long road, and everything on it, invitations included, runs on pre-registration.
