Our kitchen is in Malleshwaram, usually a few streets from wherever your function is. The food is cooked the same morning and carried over warm, not trucked in from somewhere else.
Malleshwaram is one of the few old neighbourhoods of Bengaluru that has kept its grid of cross roads and main roads intact, and the housing tells you its history in layers. Eighth Cross and the streets off it hold century-old bungalows with pillared verandas, many still occupied by the grandchildren of the families that built them. Between them stand compact apartment blocks put up as the older generation divided its houses, so a single lane can hold a retired professor, a young couple who moved in for the schools, and the family that runs the corner provision store. Life happens on foot here, and the market, the temples and the metro sit within a short walk of each other.
Malleshwaram still runs on old Bangalore rhythms. Temple mornings, joint-family functions, upanayanas and naming ceremonies where the meal matters as much as the ritual, and elders who will tell you honestly whether the palya was right.
The calendar here leans traditional. Upanayana and seemantha lunches, where the meal follows the ritual and both are planned weeks ahead; annual shraddha meals that must be pure, simple and exactly as prescribed; naming and cradle ceremonies held at home or in a hall off the cross roads; and quiet anniversary lunches for older couples who have lived here all their lives.
For a Malleshwaram leaf meal we would suggest Bele Tovve, Shasti Sambar with its fifteen vegetables, and a run of palyas, closing with Hesarubele Paisam and Bele Holige made on the plate. The elders at the head of the table judge the holige first, so that is where our mothers put their attention.
Our kitchen sits inside Malleshwaram itself, so most deliveries here are a few streets from the stove, about ten minutes door to door. The cross roads are narrow and fill up quickly on function days, so for mantapa bookings we bring the van in about ninety minutes before service and carry the last stretch by trolley. For homes with a courtyard setup we keep the serving line compact so the house keeps working around it.
We set up in kalyana mantapas around the cross roads, temple halls, and family homes with room in the courtyard, around Sampige Road and Malleshwaram Circle. Every plate is pure-veg, and we prepare Jain options on request.
Can you cook at our Malleshwaram home instead of delivering? We can. For functions inside a Malleshwaram house we set up in the courtyard or the driveway, finish the final stages on site, and serve from there. Everything is still prepped the same morning in our kitchen a few streets away.
Do you prepare food for shraddha meals in Malleshwaram? Yes. Shraddha and other ritual meals are cooked exactly to the family's instructions, without onion or garlic where that is required, served in the traditional order on the leaf. Tell us the customs followed in your household when you enquire and we follow them.
Use the enquiry form on this page with your occasion and headcount. We reply with a suggested menu and a quote, and adjust both until they fit. Weddings and corporate events need about a week, small gatherings a couple of days.
